The Artisan Promise

Our hooks are crafted from the finest jewelry-grade resin to provide the ultimate combination of ergonomic balance, warmth, and glide. We designed them to be the workhorses of your craft.

However, high-performance materials require high-performance care. Just as a diamond is hard but can chip, or a ceramic knife stays sharp forever but can snap if dropped, resin is a rigid material. It’s made to withstand the tension of thousands of stitches, not the impact of a fall.

1-Year Craftsmanship Warranty

We're committed to making high-quality tools. If your hook has a defect in material or workmanship within one (1) year of purchase, we'll make it right.

What we cover:

  • Structural failures occurring during normal crocheting use (e.g., snapping at the neck while stitching).
  • Visual defects such as internal bubbles, surfacing voids, or significant discoloration. This does not include aesthetic preferences, such as swirls or color variation (more on that below).

The remedy: 

We will replace the defective hook with a new unit of the same size and colorway. If that colorway is retired (as our batches are limited), we will offer a replacement of equal value or store credit.

What’s not covered:

  • Aesthetic preferences (like desiring more gold swirls in your hook). Color variation between each hook is part of the small-batch, hand-poured charm and we cannot guarantee the exact design you’ll receive. 
  • Hooks that are damaged from improper storage, including rolling off tables, dropping on the floor, or tips breaking due to being stored upside down. We recommend storing your hook safely in the premium tube it arrived in to prevent accidental damage. 
  • Hooks that have been traded between crocheters or purchased from anywhere other than makeanddocrew.com. We're all about sharing, but you must be the original purchaser or gift recipient to qualify for a warranty claim. (Received a hook as a gift? Lucky you! See our policy under "Gifted a Hook?" below.)
  • Damage resulting from sassy cats, teething puppies, or any other pets.

How to File a Claim

Email us at info@makeanddocrew.com with:

  • Your order number, tracking number, and the email you used to order (...if you have them handy. If not, we can find your order number.)
  • The first and last name on the original order
  • A photo or video of the damaged hook. Try to capture it on a plain background, with the size stamp and logo visible.
  • A quick note on what happened with the hook. (Don’t worry, you won’t be in trouble. It just helps us understand how the hooks are handling real life.)

What Happens Next

No need to ship the defective hook back to us. We’ll review your claim and get back to you within 2-3 business days. If you qualify for a replacement, we’ll replace the defective hook with a new unit of the same size and colorway. If that colorway is retired (as our batches are limited), we will offer a replacement of equal value or store credit. 

Gifted a Hook?

Lucky you, what a special present! Gift recipients are covered under the same warranty. Follow the steps outlined above to request a replacement. Please include the email address that was used to purchase the hook you received. 

Don't have the purchaser's email? Send us what you do know (the name on the order, the shipping address) and we'll do our best to find it on our end.

The "Butterfingers" Replacement Program

We know life happens. Cats knock things off tables. Hooks drop onto tile floors. While our One (1) Year Warranty does not cover accidental damage (drops, pets, misuse), we never want you to be without your favorite tool.

If your hook meets an untimely end due to gravity or a furry friend, you are eligible for our "Butterfingers" Replacement Program.

How it works:

  • Eligibility: One replacement per hook purchased, for as long as we’re making them (these terms are subject to change)
  • The Cost: You pay a flat "Crash Replacement" fee (plus shipping). This covers our manufacturing and handling costs.
  • The Process: Snap a photo of the broken hook and email it to info@makeanddocrew.com. We’ll send you a private link to order your replacement immediately. (If that colorway is archived, we will offer a replacement in the current colorway.) No need to ship the broken pieces back!

Note: This program is limited to one replacement per original hook purchased directly from https://shop.makeanddocrew.com/. It does not cover replacements for hooks that are swapped between friends. 

Changes to Warranty

As our business evolves, so will our policies. We may update this policy over time. The version that applies to your order is the one that was live on our site the day you placed your order.
